A Day in the life of Varsha

"Self grooming is no longer a fancy pursuit of the vain".A beautician seems to be a necessity for a urban life.We met with Varsha on a gloomy monday evening at the Femina beauty saloon. She works as a hair style trainee.Currently she helps the hair style and make-up experts in the saloon.Ms.Varsha hails from coimbatore. This 39 year old lady narrated about her life after marriage, ambition and childhood dreams to us.
Asked about her childhood dreams,Varsha in her adorable coimbatore accent said that she wanted to become a police officer. But due to certain financial constraints in her family she could not become one.She completed her plus two and then got married. As a home maker, she managed the house hold. But then her husband's income was not sufficient to meet the family requirements and hence she finally stepped out to support her family.
And things have looked upward since then.Varsha began her career working as a help assistant in beauty parlours. She has to mortgage her jewels to finish a diploma course in hair styling."Confidence is the prime factor that makes me move forward" is what she quotes. She takes pride in stating that she has not borrowed a single penny from her kith and kin.
This lady strongly believes that time management is a prime element which helps her to manage a hectic day schedule. She returns from work only around 8:30 pm and helps her children in academics. The happiest moments in her life were when her children stood outstanding in academics and brought laurels.
At the workplace, she is friendly with customers. She delivers an effective multi-tasking by assisting many experts at the same time. She is so keen in gaining knowledge about various hair styling techniques.
We were able to realize that Varsha is a supporting wife,a sincere worker at workplace and above all a caring mom.Though this woman faced hardships in life she keeps moving on.
Her story is an inspiration for each and every woman...

Why pgdm???

Being an engineering graduate, I have acquired a concrete knowledge about the technical aspects. But I do believe that one can manage an organization more efficiently if he/she is well equipped with managerial skills.A blend of the managerial and technical skills helps a person reach greater heights.I preferred pgdm to mba because pgdm is more of practical exposure and helps us to enhance our soft skills. We do have a contemporary curriculum and a flexible course structure which helps us to understand the core concepts in a much better way. This course gives an appropriate knowledge about the corporate environment and it’s working culture. There are various case studies, current situations and real time analyses. The pgdm graduates also get good placement offers as they are well trained to face crucial real time situations.Hence I do think I have taken a crystal clear decision of choosing pgdm which will chisel my personality and career.

Why PGDM????

When an Institute secures autonomy they design their own curriculum to be taught instead of following outdated University syllabus. The reason why I chose to do PGDM is because the curriculum can be updated regularly depending on the need in Industry. Hence one can say that PGDM courses are more Industry relevant as compared to MBA courses. PGDM has a focus on building soft skills and is industry-oriented. It prepares you for the job market. PGDM graduates get superior management education and enviable placement offers from global companies autonomous institute does not have to follow university standards , it is free to change its curriculum according to industry standards and change in business environment. PGDM will prepare graduates for senior level positions in industry and paves the way for a strong corporate career. Hence, I was looking for a career in the challenging area of management so decided to pursue PGDM.
